Osku Palermaa of Finland led the 35-strong
field of Squad 3 Wednesday night with 1,392,
but that was not enough to take over the
lead set by Rene Sejling with 1,418 last
night but does give the lithe two-hander the
comfort of second place in the overall
standings.
Palermaa brought ten bowling balls to this
year's event with the attempt to conquer the
dual lane condition of long oil pattern on the
left lane and short oil on the right. "I have a
very high rev rate with my two-handed delivery,"
he remarked, "so the short oil pattern is very
difficult for me."
It was a unique situation tonight that after
five of the six qualifying games that Osku
Palermaa had his girl friend Veronica Lantto on
his tail, but he drew away with a higher final
game.
