RENE UPS THE ANTE
Some more good bowling on the pristine lanes
of Lovvang Bowl, Aalborg Tuesday evening as Rene
Sejling, a web designer from nearby Viborg
(pictured), set
a stronger pace than last night's squad leader
Jimmy Dan Mortensen by hitting the first 1400 of
this year's Brunswick Aalborg International,
coming home after his six games totaling 1418.
He also set the second high game of the event so far
with a 287 in his second game, at that time
sitting on 544 for just two games. Alas, a 194
third game showed that the small guy is just as
human as the rest of us.
But the gl;ory goes to John Guldbak, another
Dane, who rolled the first perfect game in his
opener, no mean achievement on the dual lane
condition. Sadly, he only enjoyed one further
game over 200 through the block.
Last year pacesetter Bo Winther is up among
the leaders once more, now holding third place
and demoting petite Nina Flack of Sweden into
fourth. But there are eleven more squads to go
and despite the new lane condition of the left
lane with long oil and the right with short, 44
and 34 feet respectively, the scores are much
higher than anticipated.
Newly elected World Bowling Writers Hall of
Famer Tore Torgersen thought that bowling on
these patterns is very interesting and makes a
nice change. "It certainly tests the versatility
of the players," he remarked.
